Can I FTP directly to Network Solutions? Yes
Symptoms -
> Post attempt on 7/16 at 6:30am - "your publish is taking longer than expected" - Blogger DID receive/create the page for the post (http://kitchenparade.com/2008/07/beef-tacos-with-avocado-cucumber-man...) but it gets a 404 error since Blogger has not uploaded files to Network Solutions
> set post to Draft, then republished ("your publish is taking longer than expected"

10am UPDATE -- The post is still not live, despite many attempts to
publish.
HOWEVER ----->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Google/Feedburner picked up an RSS feed
and so 2000 subscribers (including e-mail readers) have now gotten BAD
e-mail/feed.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED, in all three incidents.
In my mind, it is the worst because for the first time, readers are
directly affected.
Wednesday 10am - the post went live about 3 hours after I first
pressed publish, 3 hours after RSS went live, 1 hour after FeedBurner
(another Google service) sent out e-mail subscriptions
Wednesday 6pm - I was able to publish again, briefly, and made quick
updates to the post
Wednesday 6:15pm - made one last quick update, received an "your
publish is taking longer than expected" message
Thursday 8am -- uploading a photo requires several minutes of
"spinning" -- so long that I gave up, thinking that Blogger was stuck
and was surprised to find the photo available after a few minutes
Thursday 8:40 am -- attempted to update a post (wild rice salad -
http://kitchenparade.com/2003/08/wild-rice-salad.php) with new photo
of two kinds of wild rice --> "republished with errors" but the post
didn't update
Thursday 8:45 am -- attempted to republish entire blog, after awhile,
started switching back and forth between "published with errors" and
"taking longer than expected" -- 10:10am still "taking longer than
expected" -- 11:15 am still "taking longer than expected"
Thursday 12:30 pm -- "your blog published with errors" -- but the wild
rice salad post is updated~

6:00am unable to load photos; after about 10 minutes, receive an
actual error message (publishing results:
org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPConnectionClosedException: Connection
closed without indication.) instead of just spinning as usual
6:12am knew connection was broken (a good thing), so tried again,
photo uploaded fine!
6:13am tried uploading 2 more photos, no success but once again
received an error message, a good thing
7:45am attempted to publish full post, spinning, spinning, spinning
"your publish is taking longer than expected" - to avoid e-mail sub's
going live, changed FeedBurner to deliver 12 hours later
7:57am received "blog published with errors" --
org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPConnectionClosedException: Connection
closed without indication. -- message but post is NOT live and link is
still spinning
8:00am saved post as draft - then clicked publish again - recd same
error message
8:22am saved post as draft - then clicked publish again - recd same
error message
8:30am on phone w Network Solutions to see if can change 404 error
message so at least readers clicking through will get notice -- they
assign service record 1-351563572
8:55am saved post as draft - then clicked publish again ----
SUCCESS!!!!
